About the Journal
The Journal of Chinese Studies, published by the Institute of Chinese
Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, brings together the fruits
of research of scholars in Hong Kong and other parts of the world, in
Chinese history, literature, philosophy, language, archaeology, human
and economic geography, and China's relations with the world.

Note to Contributors
Journal of Chinese Studies (formerly The Journal
of the Institute of Chinese Studies of The Chinese University of Hong
Kong), published twice a year in January and July, is devoted to Chinese Studies. All Articles are peer-reviewed. Articles accepted for publication should not be published elsewhere or in any other
form without the permission of the Editorial Board. Unsolicited book reviews will not be considered.
Articles should normally be not more than 30,000 characters
in Chinese or 20,000 words in English. Chinese articles should be provided
with a summary in English, and articles in English with a summary in Chinese.
Book reviews should not exceed 5,000 characters in Chinese and 3,000 words
in English.
Articles are grouped together under different categories
and within the same category they are arranged according to chronological
order of the subject matter. A manuscript may be edited unless the Editorial
Board accedes to the author's request to the contrary at the time of its
acceptance. In all editorial matters, the final decision rests with the
Editorial Board. No alterations can be made after the galley stage. If
its publication is delayed for technical reasons, an article may be kept
for a subsequent issue.
Authors will receive one complimentary copy of the Journal
and 20 offprints. Boook Review authors will receive one complimentary copy of the Journal and 2 offprints.
