About the Journal

The Journal of Translation Studies, launched in 1997, is edited by the Department of Translation, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and published by The Chinese University Press. It contains mainly Chinese and English articles on the theory, history, and method of translating and interpreting, translation criticism, bibliographies, and book reviews as well as works of translation in Chinese. Articles written in languages other than Chinese and English are also published.

Note to Contributors

1. Journal of Translation Studies, an annual publication of the Department of Translation, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, welcomes articles on Translation Studies and Chinese translations of literary works.

2. Contributions in either Chinese or English are welcome. Articles in other languages are also considered. The author takes sole responsibility for his/her views. Unused articles or translations will not be returned.

3. Each Chinese manuscript should be limited to 15,000 characters hand-written on traditional squared manuscript paper, or word-processed if possible. The length limit of each English manuscript is 30 double-spaced A4 pages. The font size should be no smaller than 12 points.

4. An abstract in Chinese and English of 200-300 words is required. Please attach to the manuscript your name, address, telephone number, fax number and e-mail address where applicable.

5. For translation works, please supply the source text, a synopsis and a brief introduction of the source-text author. It is the translator's responsibility to obtain written permission to translate the work.

6. Each contribution will be first reviewed by the Editorial Board members and then anonymously by two referees for its suitability for publication in the Journal of Translation Studies.

7. The editor reserves the right to modify the manuscript where deemed necessary.

8. Please do not submit your contribution elsewhere while under review.

9. The copyright of all published articles belongs to the Journal of Translation Studies. Permission to reproduce the article in whole or in part should be sought from the Journal in advance and due acknowledgement should be made.

10. Five copies of the relevant issue of the journal are provided free of charge to the author once his/her article is published.
